Today was my first day out of the house in a couple of weeks. My flatmate wasn’t feeling well for a couple of days and with no way of knowing what it was I made the decision to follow guidelines and stay home. So how did I cope?
Knowing myself I had to find ways to focus my mind and have a routine. I work in a nursery and I get school holidays and after last summer I realised I don’t cope well with no routine and too much time to think.
I began my days by doing a zoom yoga class with one of my very good friends. I found this a great way to focus myself and give me energy for the day. I would then pick a household chore like cleaning the oven (very rock n’ roll) and then finish with my app based Spanish lesson. I decided pre lockdown to learn a language and I’m really enjoying it. After I completed these tasks the day was free to do what I wanted… watch TV, take a nap and listen to music.
This routine helped but I must admit by the weekend, I could find myself cracking, the good weather and people in the park were breaking down my positive attitude. By Sunday, I found myself becoming very tense of mind and body but a day of games with my flatmate, online yoga, church online and good friends to message saw me through to TODAY… my walk. I got out the house walked 4.2 miles and listening to some cracking music and remembered all the reasons why I love this city.
