One of the best things Hope Hub has done over lockdown is Family Fun Online. We packed Hope Boxes full of art and activities and met up online to explore creativity in intriguing ways. We all had a scarf. One moment it was a smelly cabbage. and the next it was the stickiest gloop you have ever seen, and the next a soft purring kitten. What a hoot!
We ran 5 different groups. Each ran for a week and climaxed in a Jamboree. One such week saw a group of young people from Dundee in Scotland connect over Zoom with a group of families from Lijiang in China. The energy was amazing.
Drawing inspiration from potatoes everyone developed new and interesting characters, and had wee adventures with them in real and imagined places. Wanderin’ Express is a wonderful song. created over the week with our new Chinese friends and tells the story of a magical train that picks up incredible characters on its way from Dundee to Lijiang. Sang by Ross Ferguson with a broad Oary accent. Brilliant.
Huge thanks to Ashley Dye, Ross Ferguson and Chelsie Bruce from Dundee for all the energy and enthusiasm you invested in this project! And huge thanks also to Jiarun, Michael and Annie from Lijiang for doing all the running around in China to make this happen!
What a wonderful experience! Let’s do this again soon!
